What is Surface Area ?

Surface area is the amount of space covering the outside of a three-dimensional shape.

Firstly, Take the cuboidal base.

We will find the area of the front and back face which is shape of rectangle.

The side faces of rectangles and lastly the bottom face.

  • Area of Front and back face= area of 2 rectangles

                                                = 2 x length x breadth

                                                = 2 x 19 x 11

                                                = 418 [tex]ft^{2}[/tex]

  • Area of side faces = area of 2 rectangles

                               = 2 x side x side

                               = 2 x 11 x 9

                               =198 [tex]ft^{2}[/tex]

  • Area of bottom = Length x breadth

                           = 19 x 9

                          = 171 [tex]ft^{2}[/tex]

Now, area of faces remaining on the side of the triangular prism.

There are two rectangle of measurement : length= 9 ft and breadth = 4.5 ft

  • Area of two remaining faces on top other than triangular base= l x b

       = 2 x (9 x4.5)

  • At last, the side faces of triangular prism whose area be,

=2 x 13 x 9

= 234 [tex]ft^{2}[/tex]

  • Area of front and back face of triangular prism

= 2 x ( [tex]\frac{1}{2}[/tex] x b x h )

= 2 x 0.5 x 10 x 12

= 120[tex]ft^{2}[/tex]

  • Total Surface Area of the figure is,

= 418+ 198+171+234+81+120

= 1222 [tex]ft^{2}[/tex]
