We are given;

Population standard deviation; σ = 2.3 minutes

Margin of error; E = 0.5 minutes

Significance level; α = 0.05

Since margin of error is 0.5, then we have a standard deviation of;

S = 2.3 - 0.5 = 1.8

Significance level is 0.05. Thus;

0.05 * 1.8 = 0.09

Now, this question has an earlier part whereby the data was from 1000 students. Thus;

The sample size is;

n = 0.09 * (1.8 * 2) * 100

n = 324 students
