I will respond by telling her to continue with it in order to prevent the risk of GERD.

What is GERD?

This is referred to as Gastroesophageal reflux disease and occurs when stomach acid or bile flows into the food pipe and irritates the lining.

Avoiding acidic foods will reduce the risk of him getting this type of disease  which is why he should be encouraged.
