HELP will give 50 pts. A group of friends wants to go to the amusement park. They have $197.75 to spend on parking and admission. Parking is $19, and tickets cost $35.75 per person, including tax. Write and solve an equation which can be used to determine xx, the number of people who can go to the amusement park.

To write the equation multiply the price per person by x( the number of people that can go) and add the price of parking to get the total cost:


equation: total = 35.75x + 19


to solve for x replace the total with 197.75 and solve for x:

197.75 = 35.75x + 19

Subtract 19 from both sides:

178.75 = 35.75x

Divide both sides by 35.75

X = 5


a total of 5 people can go.
