The structure of antibodies is formed by four polypeptide chains composed of amino acids. Two of them are larger and heavier (P) and two are smaller and lighter (L). These chains are connected by disulfide bridges.
Antibodies can come in two forms: bound to the cell membrane or soluble in blood. They are made up of two larger chains (heavy chains, H, ​heavy​) and two smaller chains (light chains, L, ​light​). The light chain is linked to the heavy chain by disulfide bonds.
