Disciplinary Research Project

This unit research project presents an opportunity to engage with an academic discipline (e.g. biochemistry, anthropology, history, etc.) of your choice by selecting a topic related to the intellectual undertaking of that discipline, formulating a research question and pursuing that question throughout the research process until it is ‘answerable’ as a thesis for the research essay.

Devise a research question from a subject of interest to you related to your academic major. Pursue that research question through the research process, gathering, assessing and reviewing research materials. Then, develop a research essay synthesizing your findings.

The meaning of the assignment is to basically do research on a branch of knowledge or just go into depth of the major of your choice, such as one of the examples given. Like what you want to write about that can correlate to that study. It is preferred to write about something you don't know or want to know more about. The essay is to basically answer that question. The essay is also supposed to be very informative on that study and to be descriptive.
