America developed the idea that it was destined to cover the entire continent throughout the 19th century. It was referred to as Manifest Destiny. Manifest Destiny adherents believed it was their responsibility to rule the land from the Atlantic to the Pacific. Additionally, they felt that God had chosen them to take on this mission.
If the Native Americans decided to stay, the expansion of America would be to their advantage and improve their way of life. Louisiana Native American tribes were purchased in the hopes that they would migrate west to create place for settlers migrating west. However, the government's attitude toward Native Americans living there started to sway in favor of evicting them from their homes. Native Americans should be expelled from their ancestral lands because they cannot assimilate into American culture.
