If i am advisor to Moctezuma II, What I might have told him about Cortés is that he should not have invited him, he should not have allowed Cortés to enter Tenochtitlan since he does not know much about Cortés.
Why did Moctezuma II invited Cortés?
The invitation by Moctezuma II was a result of the curiosity by him and because he didn't see them as a threat.
However, he think he can buy Cortés off but unfortunately for him he could not.
