As an employee, when another employee shares any incident of sexual harassment that has taken place with anyone in the organization we must take the following measures.
- take any complaint of sexual harassment very seriously
- think very carefully about the way we handle a complaint, to make sure we do it fairly and sensitively and follow the right procedures
- tell everyone involved in the complaint what the process will be
- handle the complaint as quickly as possible
Consider carefully what we say to someone while we are discussing a complaint of sexual harassment.
There are certain things that are inappropriate or unacceptable to be kept in mind which are:-
- Do not suggest that someone should not pursue their complaint by warning them that it would be a lengthy and tough process or asking them if they are certain they want to proceed.
- Saying that their issue doesn't seem that serious is inappropriate since you should take all concerns extremely seriously.
