During the twenties, the two major problems with incorporating sound to film was that the early sound cameras and its equipment were very big in size and it was noisy which creates disturbance to the film. Also, it was hard to travel with these things because of its size.

They were to be kept in sound proof rooms called “blimps”. It also took a while to figure out that that you could move a microphone around by placing it on a stick.

There would be two competing sound or recording systems developed during the early 20s, the 'talkie' period which refers to the sound-on-disc and sound-on-film.
