The design system for the nineteenth Olympiad in Mexico city resulted from research on Mexican Cultural Heritage
The emblem of the nineteenth Olympiad combines the year with the five Olympic rings. Pedro Ramirez Vazquez, an architect and the head of the organising committee for the games, Eduardo Terrazas (from Mexico), and Lance Wyman collaborated on the design (USA). It brings to mind the Huichol, a Mexican Indigenous people.
Three artists worked together to create the series of posters for these Games: Lance Wyman (USA), who created the "Mexico 68" emblem, Eduardo Terrazas (MEX), who is an architect and the president of the organising committee for the games, and Pedro Ramirez Vazquez. They later improved it to produce the poster in black and white that is reminiscent of Huichol designs.
