Boas transformed into the primary instructor of humanities at Columbia University in 1899, following three years as an educator in the field. He was instrumental in developing the school's human sciences division, which transformed into the principal Ph.D. program in the discipline in the U.S.
He began the first of various hands-on work trips to the Pacific Northwest. Instead of overwhelming viewpoints during that period, Boas came to have confidence somewhat through his hands-on work that all friendly orders were basically the same. He scrutinized the case that focal qualifications existed between friendly requests that were viewed as illuminated versus "savage" or "unrefined," according to the language of the time.
Anthropology is the study of what makes us human. Anthropologists take a broad approach to understand different aspects of the human experience. Through archeology, they look into the past, how humans lived hundreds or thousands of years ago, and what was important to them.
