Mean: 12

To find the mean you add all the numbers in the data together then divide by the amount of numbers you have.

5+18+6+18+13 = 60
1. 2. 3. 4. 5. /5
= 12

To find the range look for the number that is farther away than the other numbers. Start by placing the numbers in numerical order.

5, 6, 13, 18, 18

The Min is 5 and the Max is 18

18-18 = 0
18-13 = 5
13-6 = 12
6-5 = 1

It’s obvious that 13-6 has the range. The reason I divided them all was to help show how to find the range when it’s not a min or a max number. The range is 13 because it is farthest on both sides from all the numbers when compared to the distance of the other numbers.

6 < (12 numbers away) < 13 > (5 numbers away) > 18
