The main role of ALS intercept is to provide the patient with care as soon as possible.  It is dispatched from the hospital on request of the BLS unit to provide the medical care on the way. The BLS unit is the Basic Life Support unit. It usually has two medical technicians. On the other hand, the ALS unit also has a paramedic expert.

The BLS unit are not allowed to provide any medical care that includes breaking or piercing the skin of the patient. They are not supposed to even inject a syringe to the patient.
