The central group of teenagers friends instantly accepts Phil actions as their leader and submits to his directives without question after being saved from danger by his intricate plan to cover up the death of their schoolmate Adam.
Phil is a very quiet and enigmatic figure for the majority of the play, but he soon reveals himself as a type of genius. Phil, however, doesn't allow his newfound power over his so-called friends to affect him; instead, he keeps his customary distance and apathy, empathy, speaking up only when it is absolutely required.
When Phil speaks, his instructions and pronouncements are cold, calculated, and completely devoid of empathy.
