Urbach Wiethe disease is an autosomal recessive genetic disorder. It causes bilateral degeneration of amygdala due to lipoid storage. The vocal cords are also thickened in this disease therefore resulting in a weakened voice.
Amygdala is an almond shaped structure present in the brain. It is composed of gray matter, and is responsible for the expression of emotions. The major emotions displayed are fear, anger and pleasure. It is proved that is an organism lacks amygdala, it cannot express any emotions, even of fear.
