Respuesta :

Shakespeare's choice of words makes the tone of the story very dynamic. Showing different tones that can change at any time.

Why does Shakespeare do this?

  • Because he wants to keep the story objective but unpredictable.
  • He wants to give the reader the feeling that everything in the story can change in the blink of an eye.

Shakespeare liked to manipulate words, so he fiddled with the grammar and syntax of many sentences to highlight diverse sentiments, which form the tone of the story but maintain the changing feel.

We can see this in Act II of "Macbeth" where the suspenseful tone is soon changed to one of confusion and anger, due to Banquo's attitudes toward prophecies.

Act III begins with a tone of hope that Mabeth will suffer the consequences of her actions but soon changes to a tone of despair and madness, with the defragmentation of Lady Macbeth's mind.
