The difference between dark field microscopy and bright field microscopy is that field view of dark field is dark while bright field microscopy have bright background.

Dark field microscopy has a dark background against which bright image is formed. It is used in observing the live specimen and it only shows the external features of the specimen.

Light field microscopy on the other hand have a white background against which a dark image is formed. It is usually used for the observation of fixed specimen that are stained using various dyes. It shows external as well as internal details.
