In Persian, the word takht is a synonym for "bed," "seat," or "podium." The instruments that play the melody may sing solos or play heterophonically in octaves. Bashraf, Sami, Tahmilah, and Dulab are examples of instrumental forms. A male or female vocalist, as well as a group of four to six vocalists, may also join the ensemble to perform the refrain portions.
"Takht," which literally means "bed," is used to describe the traditional Arab attire. The ensemble's lineup may change, although it normally consists of the six melodic instruments 'oud, qanun, nay, kamanja, riq, and darbuka. Vocalists of either sexes may join the group.
