For the British government and the colonies to have repaired their relationship without a revolution, the British needed to:

  • Reduce the taxes levied on the colonies.
  • Allow the colonies to be represented in British Parliament.

What would have prevented the American Revolution?

In order for the American Revolution not to happen, the British should have listened to some of the demands of the colonists and implemented them.

One thing they could have done was to reduce the many taxes that were levied on the colonies which had become a massive bone of contention. Another thing would have been to give the colonies representation in Parliament.
