Enantiomers and diastereomers are the each type of optical isomers which stereoisomers?

Optical Isomer's :

  • Two compounds that have distinct spatial arrangements of the atoms, the same number and types of atoms, bonds (i.e., the connection between atoms is the same), and optical isomers are non-superimposable mirror images of one another. Enantiomers are any non-superimposable mirror image structures.
  • There are primarily two types of optical isomers in biochemistry: D and L type isomers. When compared to the latter, the former rotates plane-polarized light in the opposite direction. When each isomer type is present in an equal amount (50%) there is a racemic combination.

What is Stereoisomer ?

Stereoisomerism, also known as spatial isomerism, is a type of isomerism used in stereochemistry in which molecules with the identical molecular formula and order of linked atoms change in the three-dimensional spatial orientations of their atoms.
