The spore type known as megaspores, or macrospores, is found in heterosporous plants. Megaspores and microspores are the two spore types found in these plants. The megaspore, or large spore, typically develops into a female gametophyte that produces egg cells. The male gametophyte that forms from the microspore fertilizes these by producing sperm. Gymnosperms and flowering plants that produce seeds are examples of heterosporous plants, as are water ferns (Salviniales), spikemosses (Selaginellaceae), and quillworts (Isoetaceae).In contrast to other probiotic strains that only claim to do the same and fail to survive during transport to the gut, Megaspore goes directly to the large intestine and reconditions the gut.
