Freshwater does has more dissolved oxygen than as compared to seawater.
What is Dissolved oxygen?
Dissolved oxygen refers to the level of free, non-compound oxygen present in water or other liquids.
It is an important parameter, as it helps with the survival of the organisms which live under water.
If the dissolved oxygen level increases, it makes the water quality unfit for the aquatic animal. If the dissolved oxygen level decreases, it also makes the water quality unfit for the survival of aquatic animals.
Sources of freshwater are:
glaciers, lakes, reservoirs, ponds, rivers, streams, wetlands and even groundwater.
There is lesser amount of dissolved oxygen in seawater because there is lesser space for the oxygen molecules as there are sodium and chloride molecules present in the seawater.
