You lift your textbook and drop it onto a desk. Describe the energy transformations (from one form to another) that occur, moving backward in time from a moment after impact.

Respuesta :

The potential energy of the textbook transform into kinetic energy when it is drop from a height.

Potential energy is also called stored energy. When the textbook in a more height, it have more potential energy than when it is kept in less height. Potential energy is product of mass, acceleration due to gravity and height.

Formula of Potential energy is = m × g × h

Here, m = mass of object

         g = acceleration due to gravity

         h = height, at which object is placed

Kinetic energy is the form of energy of an object due to its motion. When an object is at rest, it have no kinetic energy.

Formula of kinetic energy is =  [tex]\frac{1}{2}[/tex] × m × [tex]v^{2}[/tex]

Here, m = mass of object

          v = velocity of object

When the textbook kept in a height there is only potential energy there is no kinetic energy because the textbook is at rest. When the textbook drop from a height, due to change in height, the potential energy change and due to change in velocity kinetic energy change.
