Respuesta :
The class of element which is obtained by oxidation of a mineral is called metal. The class of element which is obtained by reduction of a mineral is called non- metal.
What is element?
A chemical element is defined as a species of atoms which have a given number of the protons in their nuclei, including pure substance which is consist only of that species. Unlike the compounds, elements can not be broken down further into simpler substances by applying any chemical reaction.
What is Oxidation?
Oxidation is defined as the losing of electron by an elements. As we know that, group 1 and 2 element mainly remove one electron and two electron from the outermost shell to acquire stable electronic configuration.
What is reduction?
Reduction id defined as the element which accept the electrons. As we know that, group 13 to 17 elements accept electron to from the outermost shell acquire stable electronic configuration.
Therefore, metal undergo oxidation and non metal undergo reduction.
Thus, we concluded that the class of element which is obtained by oxidation of a mineral is called metal. The class of element which is obtained by reduction of a mineral is called non- metal.
