Raloxifene (Evista) is a member of the group of medications known as selective oestrogen receptor modulators (SERMs). It has FDA approval for osteoporosis prevention and treatment in postmenopausal women as well as for lowering invasive breast cancer risk in postmenopausal women with osteoporosis or elevated risk for the disease.
Raloxifene is a drug used to treat and prevent osteoporosis in elderly women and those using glucocorticoids. It is marketed under the trade names Evista, among others. It is less recommended than bisphosphonates for osteoporosis. It also helps patients who are at elevated risk of developing breast cancer to lower their risk.
