In our culture, we shake hands to meet someone. Especially someone we don't know or a business colleague. Some people, depending on their profession, salute people such as police officers or military personnel. However, our culture still shows affection, we greet friends with a hug often times and lovers with a kiss to the cheek. I feel that this tradition has not changed in my experience.
