A patient is on aminoglycoside therapy, the nurse will monitor the patient for Fever and creatinine levels for indicators of potential toxicity.
When on aminoglycoside therapy the patient may suffer with dizziness, hearing loss, fever, or a sense of fullness in the ears may be a sign of toxicity. It may also be indicated by rising levels of urea and creatinine in the blood which is due to increased toxicity.
