Fete Galante, was a painting style which had depicted the amusements of French upper class society.

Antoine Watteaus, was prominent French painter, who painted the paintings which had depicted the figures wearing up ball dress or the masquerade costumes, in open park scenes.

The French painting society, in 1717 had created a new category for his paintings, he usually been funded by the private partners but he wanted the recognition from the government Academy of Paintings and sculptures.
