When early signs of puberty are noticed, therapy should be discontinued.
A child's body develops into an adult body capable of procreation during the process of puberty. It begins with hormonal signals sent from the brain to the gonads—in the case of a boy, the testes; in the case of a girl, the ovaries. The gonads respond to the signals by producing hormones that increase desire and promote the development of the brain, bones, muscles, blood, skin, hair, breasts, and external genitalia as well as their growth, function, and metamorphosis. Height and weight gain pick up speed during the first half of adolescence and are finished after the body has fully matured into an adult one.
