5x + 6x= 1.35.........equation 2

From equation 1

6x + 5y= 1.40

6x= 1.40 -5y

x= 1.40-5y/6

Substitute 1.40-5y/6 for x in equation 2

5(1.40-5y/6) + 6y = 1.35

7-25y/6 + 6y= 1.35

7-25y+36y/6= 1.35

cross multiply

7 +11y= 8.1

11y= 8.1-7

11y= 1.1

y= 1.1/11

y= 0.1

Substitute 0.1 for y in equation 1

6x +5y= 1.40

6x + 5(0.1)= 1.40

6x + 0.5= 1.40
