The 19th amendment of the US constitution is passed by Congress on June 4, 1919, which came into effect to be ratified on August 18, 1920, however, the 19th amendment granted women sections of the society the right to vote. This amendment also legally guarantees American women citizens their right to vote.

Women had a right to vote in several colonies in what would become the US, but by the year 1807, every state constitution had denied the rights of women even within limited suffrage involved.

Organizations supporting the rights of women became more active during the mid-19th century and in the year 1848, the Seneca Falls on certain convention which were supposed to adopt the Declaration of Sentiments, which is termed for describing the equality between the sexes and had included a resolution which makes women urged in order to secure the voting rights.
