I agree that energy use is currently unsustainable because most nations base their energy on oil and other non-renewable energies. However, this does not mean that the technologies necessary for sustainable energy production do not exist.
The use of solar, wind, hydroelectric and nuclear energy are sustainable alternatives that produce very little waste. Specifically, nuclear energy used to generate a lot of waste that could not be reused and had to be buried underground but nowadays, nuclear reactors allow the generation of reusable waste, generating more energy per amount of matter and generating much less waste.
