what do the greasers offer johnny that his parents do not? how is this ironic. By the way this book is called the outsiders

The greasers offered Johnny a place to be, and someone to care about him. This is ironic because parents are supposed to care about their child, but it seems as if johnny's friends, who are "Hoods", care more about him.
I actually read this book a while ago.

Johnny is an unprotected boy, who suffers from abuse at home, so the greasers ar for him his real family because it is there and with them where he finds protection. This is the irony, becasue he finds in a group of strangers the protection he does not in his house.
