I just love woodstoves. I think they give off the best kind of heat. It radiates out from all sides and makes a room so toasty and cozy. Also, many of them have windows on the front, so you can watch the fire burn. This has two advantages: It's pleasant to look at, and you can see if more wood needs to be added. Woodstoves burn very efficiently, as you can tell if you look inside after one is done burning. You'll find there's almost nothing left! In a regular fireplace, there are always pieces of wood and paper that didn't burn completely. Woodstoves can keep an entire small house warm in winter, because they throw off so much heat. Of course, I was staying somewhere once where the woodstove was so efficient that the place got way too hot! We had to open all the windows and doors until it cooled down, which sort of defeated the purpose. But overall, I'm still a big fan of woodstoves. I wish I had one of my own.
