In the dialysis experiment, since the tube is permeable to starch, it moves out of the tube into the distilled water.

In a lab experiment on dialysis, to check if starch moves through the differentially permeable membrane of dialysis tubing, it has to be placed into a beaker filled with distilled water and a few drops of iodine. The movement of starch will depend on the solution being hypotonic, hypertonic or isotonic with the distilled water. Since the solution in the dialysis tube is hypertonic with respect to  the distilled water in the beaker, it will move out of the tube into the beaker.
