The rocks which are present on the surface of earth and are formed by the deposition of minerals.

On the other hand, igneous and metamorphic rocks are found within the earth's surface after undergoing metamorphic process.

Over the years, When organic particles start accumulating and depositing on the earth they are transformed into sedimentary rocks by a process called cementation which hardens the organic materials and settles them in place.

Examples of sedimentary rocks are limestone, shale and sandstone.

Simply put, sedimentary rocks are sediments which gets deposited in rivers as rock beds and altered into old mineral rocks.
