Definitions and Terminology of Basis data technology
Data is a representation of the object of concern, for example if a student is a concern then data is collected that can represent the student object, for example name, date of birth, gender, religion, address, and so on. If this collection of data representations is recorded and stored, a data file is obtained. Information about students can be obtained by processing the student data set, for example, information can be obtained about the age composition of students, about the composition of religion, gender and so on.
Sometimes it takes more than one related file to represent an object, a collection of files that are managed and related to each other (have relations) is called a "database" . Information can be obtained quickly and precisely if the database is neat and perfect.
The database must represent objects perfectly, in order to be able to provide the right information, for example a bank customer database must contain complete and up-to-date customer data, otherwise the information about the customer's financial condition will be confused. The database must also have the ability to secure the data it contains so that it cannot be read, used, modified, and damaged by unauthorized persons.
