So to find out the answer you will need to find out the area if both the square and the circle. (I can't really see the picture so I am assuming that the square is 8cm by 8cm...)... So the area of the square must be 64cm squared (since the area if a square is found by multiplying the length and the width) Now time to find the circle... to the way to fund the area of a circle is by multiplying together pi with (the radius squared)... pi * (4 * 4)... Which is 50.24
Hope this helps!! (≧▽≦)
Area of the shaded region
= Area of square - Area of circle

Area of square
= 8m × 8m
= 64m²

Area of circle
= πr²
= 3.14 × 4²
= 3.14 × 16
= 50.24m²

∴ Area of the shaded region
= 64m² - 50.24m²
= 13.76 m²
