He claims that Banquo's murder is all that remains between them and happiness. Lady Macbeth objects because she is uncomfortable with the idea of murdering Banquo. Macbeth reassures her that she doesn't need to know what she doesn't need to know, but that she will applaud him later for his bravery in performing this act.

Macbeth does not tell his wife that he is massacring Fleance and Banquo as she is already cracking under the stress of Duncan's murder's guilty secret.  Lady Macbeth expresses her displeasure with the idea of murdering Banquo.
