when we look at the distance between points, we can make a graph just to give us something to look at and put numbers on. If we subtract the Y values (10 - 6) we get 4...this is the value of one of the legs of a triangle. When we subtract the values of the X values (-5 - 3) we get -8...8 is the value of the other leg. Now we can use pythagorean theorem to find the distance between the two points.... 4^2 + 8^2 = c^2
16 + 64 = c^2
80 = c^2 (get the square root of each)
8.9 = c (our distance between points)
16 + 64 = c^2
80 = c^2 (get the square root of each)
8.9 = c (our distance between points)
