Slsvery is what started the civil rights.Africans and African Americans were treated unfair ,it didn't matter whether you were a slave or free.Soon you have slaves giving birth so you would need more land but the northern didn't want slavery coming to the north. Soon Abraham Lincoln got elected president but the south didn't like that so so after that the civil war happened
