Hi there!

The Constitution contains two due process clauses contained in the Fifth Amendment and the Fourteenth Amendment respectively. Both clauses outline that the federal government nor any state may "deprive any person of life, liberty, or property, without due process of law". These Amendments were put in place to help ensure equal and fair treatment for all under the federal government, and later on in the Fourteenth Amendment, equal and fair treatment for all in the states.
