Slave Codes were a series of laws restricting slave's behaviors, such as movement restriction, marriage restriction, education restriction, punishment, and killing. Slaves codes existed since 1661 in Barbados, but it was only introduced in the US colonies in 1691 when South Carolina copied The Jamaican slave code and made it popular.
We can see the first attempt to return freed slaves to Africa in 1817 with the formation of the American Colonization Society. In the early 1830s the anti slavery movement adopted an aggressive new strategy such as immediate abolition and let the southern whites furious. The american abolitionist movement happened before and during the American civil war (1861-1865).
