A tax on voting is called a poll tax. It was a fee you paid to vote. On January 23, 1964, poll taxes were officially prohibited in the U.S.
Taxes on voting is called a poll tax. This applied to blacks as well as blacks, and also affected poor citizens. The 24th amendment prohibits Congress from conditioning the right to vote in federal elections on payment of a poll tax.
Hope this helps!:)
