Succession is described as the orderly, natural changes, and species replacements which occurs in communities of an ecosystem over time. Succession can be primary, secondary.
Ecological succession on the other hand is an occurrence when an ecosystem becomes unstable; It is a slow and natural change in an ecosystem over hundreds or thousands of years. During ecological succession, growth of young hardwoods affect the organisms living in an ecosystem by outgrowing them because there was an increase in shading by the fully grown hardwoods. For instance, the sun loving pines are outgrown because the forest floors are shaded.
