The protestantism is a movement that began in northern europe in the early 6th century as a reaction to medieval Roman Catholic doctrines and practices.

By the other hand the catholicism is more referred to the traditions and beliefs of Catholics church it also known as  the Roman Catholic church.

Germany was splitted  mayorly due to Martin Luther in 1517 and his protestant reformation ( along with Philip Melanchthon, Huldrich Zwingli in Zurich and John Calvin in Geneva ) split the western Christian church in two.

The German split between the protestants and the Catholics was important to take care of the violence that was already erupting during the age of reformation.

What was the age of reformation?

This was the period of the protestant revolt. during the age, they were against the teachings of the Catholic church.

Martin Luther was the one that ended the unity of the churches at the time.
