Holden is conservative and traditional. He has very high standards when it comes to other people. The only person that he could comfortably talk to is Carl Luce, who is a clever eighth grader. He confides to Carl that he wants to talk to other people but ends up not doing it expecting that he'll just be disappointed by them.
"The Catcher in the Rye" is the story about Holden Caulfield. A wealthy student that constantly gets expelled from every school he attends due to his eccentric lifestyle.
Holden is friends with Carl Luce. A boy he knows from childhood to whom he likes to talk about sex. He feels very open talking about this with Carl. Holden confided Carl Luce that he refused to sleep with a prostitute because he did not see her as an "individual".
