A field 210 ft by 300 ft is filled with birds. If there are approximately 2 birds per square yard, how many birds are there in the field?

Respuesta :

210 x 300 = 36000 x 2 = 126000

126000 is your answer
First you have to convert feet to yards so the dimensions are changes to 70 yd by 100 yd. Multiply 70 x 100 to find the area which is 700 yd²
Then set up a proportion where x is equal to the number of birds in the whole field: [tex] \frac{2 birds}{1 yd} = \frac{x birds}{700yd} [/tex]
Cross multiply to get x = 1400.
Therefore there are 1,400 birds in the field.
