Love canal is one of the most environmental tragic events in American history. The Love Canal stands as testimony to the ignorance, lack of vision and proper laws of decades past which allowed the indiscriminate disposal of such toxic materials.
The positive effect that came out of this environmental disaster is that a blue collar community with few resources can win its fight for justice and open the eyes of the nation and the world to the serious problems of environmental chemicals and their effects on public health.
The Love Canal story should remind us not to repeat our mistakes.
